Turbidity measuring for lab to fermenter production

The turbidity measurement system is used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food and petrochemical industries. The in-situ sensor measures on one level based on the reflection principle.

turbymex - the turbidity meter The system measures the crystallisation and cell density increase or monitors the filtration process or condensate
The ATM100 allows a 6-point linearisation per channel. Up to four measuring points can be operated via the bus. From sensors in 316L stainless steel with a fibre optic cable and remote local coupler electronics to mounted versions in various nominal sizes, almost anything is possible. The sum signal is high-resolution and sensitive due to the optical receiver lens.

Measuring system

The evaluation electronics not only serve as a feed unit to the 4-wire bus, but also house the data processing intelligence in a secure manner with dynamic monitoring. All four measuring inputs have the same functionality. The benefit for you: high economic efficiency and investment security due to the long service life.

  • Each of them has an analog output of 4 - 20 mA with galvanic isolation
  • Each of them has 2 limit value relay outputs
  • 1 to 4 measuring inputs via the bus for ATA100 sensor connection
  • 6 linearisation points
  • Data logger with Excel export function
  • Ethernet web application

  • Ex version: Gas II (2) G [Ex ia Gb] IIC EMC STS 024 CE ****
The coupler serves as the actual IR measurement and transmission unit from the ATM feed unit to the 4-wire bus. Variations available: remote version or mounted on sensor.

The benefit for you: long-term stability is guaranteed through the controlled light source.

  • RS485 bus A/B
  • IR-LED 880 nm stabilised, fibre optic cable connection coupler
  • Up to 3 further couplers via the bus for ATA100 sensor connection

Monitoring of cell density in the fermenter
The turbidity measurement system developed for the biotechnology industry is primarily used for the online measurement of cell density in bioreactors and fermenters. As a function of cell density, the turbidity signal is indispensable as an additional control parameter for research, development and production.

    Condensate monitoring
By measuring the turbidity, the safeguarding of the cooling circuit in industrial applications is guaranteed. Due to the high resolution of the measurement signal, it is possible to measure the oil concentration in the condensate or cooling water in the ppm range following the deployment of a heat exchanger.
