The interface detection of not miscible liquids can be very challenging – occurring after an extraction or a chemical reaction. Heavy soiling, minimal density difference or emulsion layers can cause an interruption of the automatic process sequences, having then to be executed as a manual separation.

The solution: The interface level measurement system provides with a normed measuring signal a high resolution impedance measurement. The interface layer is continuously controlled in decanters, mixer-settlers and columns or even batch wise in pipes. Universal applicable, high measurement accuracy and simple commissioning is a real end user advantage. Reliable measurement of all products are guaranteed with the impedance measuring principle. With interface pipe probes – available in many nominal diameters - it is possible to detect an interface layer directly in the outlet of a reactor or separation vessel. The self-monitoring control unit guarantees a safe fully automated separation.

Mess-System

The all-rounder is suited from batch separation to continuous interface layer level measurement up to monitoring in a second measuring loop the condition of the interface layer. The electronical processing unit provides not only power in the 2-wire technology, but as well contains the intelligence of the data connection.

    Continuous interface layer monitoring with mipromex® MIQ or MIL with bar probes STM according to customer specification.

    Interface layer monitoring and controlling with a bar probe occurs directly in the separator. All bar probes are customer specific manufactured according to application and its geometric demands, selection of the wetted parts depending on the media. Special materials like titanium, tantalum, zirconium Zr 702, Hastelloy, glass and ceramics are processed.

    Interface layer monitoring batch
    Batch separation of two liquid phases with a digital inspection glass with the mipromex® MIQ

    Reliable phase separation of two not miscible liquids directly in the pipe with the interface layer probe TSS80.

    The automation of the separation of two not miscible liquids after a batch process can be executed with the new dynamic measurement signal processing system without knowing the product measuring values, without commissioning and limit value adjustments. The new measurement signal processing system allows a high functional reliability starting with the first separation, allowing to safe process time and money.

    Interface layer level monitoring product compensated
    The interface level measurement unit QTI 820 K works according to the same principle like the universal measuring unit MIQ 8* with the difference that additionally the product phase is measured and changes are compensated. This means that the zero point and measuring range are automatically calculated and adjusted. A change of the parameter set is no more necessary. The QTI 820 K can only be used for continuous interface level measurement with a special bar probe. In case of phase changes (watery phase on the bottom or top) the setting of the measuring unit needs to be adjusted and newly parameterized. The basic parameters are factory set. After installation the unit is ready for use. The interface level measuring unit QTI820 K can be set for different probe positions, plus as well changes of the upper and lower phase.

    The complete interface measuring loop contains a technical fault monitoring system with visualization. In case of technical problems a fault signaling contact is available on the analogue output, which is switched to 0 mA. In case of trouble all the output relays are not energized. The parametrization of the universal unit QTI 820 K with automated product compensation can only be done after entering a user code. The membrane keypad with four function buttons and digital display guarantees a user-friendly parameter entry and data display.
